約200平方メートルのアパートメントは、16世紀末から17世紀初頭のフレスコ画が描かれたリビングルームやキッチンのあるメインフロアと、19世紀に増築された独立するスイートルームとに分かれています。このリノベーション工事を特徴づけるライトモチーフは、この邸宅の本来の姿を尊重することと、国際色豊かな滞在客に好まれるコンテンポラリースタイルで居心地の良い空間を実現したい、というオーナーの想いとの間の絶妙なバランスの中にあります。新しいものと古いものとが対話し続け、互いに耳を傾けることで、理想的な記憶に刻まれる至福の空間が実現しました。Minottiの家具が持つタイムレスなテイストがその空間を引き立てています。

エントランスを入ると、象嵌細工の大理石の床をあしらった階段があり、上を見上げると、漆喰の装飾枠が見事な天井が目に飛び込んできます。広々とした明るい廊下の小部屋では、伝統を反映したグラフィックファブリックを張った、ロドルフォ・ドルドーニデザインのJensenアームチェアと、Kirk Crossコーヒーテーブルがお客様をお迎えします。

この小部屋から入るリビングルームは、天井のフレスコ画の全景が途切れないように、ピエトラ・アンティクア石を張った低い仕切り壁で2つのスペースに分かれています。一方の会話スペースには、日本の伝統にちなんだ構造ディテールを取り入れたnendoのToriiソファとアームチェアとともに、ロドルフォ・ドルドーニデザインのNayコーヒーテーブル、キルティング仕上げのKirkベンチ、そのボリュームとラグジュアリーな素材使いが特徴的で、まるで彫刻のようなBensonコーヒーテーブルが置かれています。もう一方のリラックススペースには、まさにMinottiの永遠のアイコンピースである、ロドルフォ・ドルドーニデザインのHamiltonシーティングシステムが置かれています。

リビングエリアから、もともとはこの邸宅のプライベートチャペルだった場所に設けられたキッチンへと続きます。純白の壁とフレスコ画が迎える中、ロドルフォ・ドルドーニデザインの存在感のあるToulouseテーブルとOwensチェアを中心に、調理スペースと会食スペースが配置されています。

そして、あらゆるコンフォートを備えたナイトエリアは、それぞれ専用のバスルームが付属された3つのスイートルームで構成されています。 ここでの課題は、高さ6メートルの見事な格天井の全貌を妨げないようにすることでした。そのため、各バスルームは、部屋の中に設けたマジカルボックスのように、高さを抑えたスペースに収められています。ベッドとワードローブの脇に設けられた快適なリラックス空間には、それぞれのスイートで使われている3色のカラーパレットと調和する色調で仕上げられた、包み込むようなフォルムが特徴的なロドルフォ・ドルドーニデザインのAstonアームチェアが置かれています。

永遠の都ローマの中心にある歴史的な邸宅を、元の姿に絶対的な敬意を払いながらリノベーションするという唯一性と、Minotti家具を際立たせているタイムレスな美しさへの絶え間ない探求心とが出会い、この非の打ちどころのないホスピタリティ空間が実現したのです。
