Melbourne is a city that is proud of its past but very future-oriented. The urban landscape feeds itself on projects that are designed to bridge the past with the present. The “171 Collins Street” building – signed by the Bates Smart practice – is located in a historical area abutting on the neo-Gothic cathedral of Saint Paul. This is why the project opted for non-intrusive, visually light materials such as white glass for the facade cladding. The building is mainly a commercial space with a large number of stores but also of hospitality areas.
For the spacious lounge at the entrance of the building in front of the concierge, with its precious travertine-clad walls, two seating arrangements with Alison sofas and Jensen armchairs. The lobby area leads to a second reception area, this too with Jensen armchairs and York chairs and armchairs.
