THE MURAKA by Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, the first undersea residence in the world, is one of the most exclusive locations in the Maldives. A unique project that is the perfect synthesis of contemporary design and technology, an architectural wonder that spans an area which lies both above and below the surface of the Indian Ocean.
The Muraka - its name means “coral” - is a structure surrounded only by water. It spans two levels and includes two bedrooms, bathrooms, a living and dining room, a relaxation terrace with infinity pool and a panoramic pier. The aim of the concept carefully devised for the interiors and open-air areas was to create a series of relaxing and elegant atmospheres, capable of offering guests an incredible experience based on comfort and top quality.
What makes this exclusive residence different from all the others is the presence of the underwater level. In fact, at a depth of five metres, a bedroom with glass walls affords guests a breathtaking 180° view. Next door is a sophisticated conversation area hosting a pair of Portofino armchairs paired with a Benson coffee table.
Many products from the Minotti collection were chosen for the design of the spaces above the water. Particular care was dedicated to the large, ultra-bright living area, characterised by floor to ceiling windows and furnished with two Powell seating systems, some Quinn armchairs and a series of Cernobbio coffee tables. In addition to the Aston stools, designed for the counter in the lounge, a row of Leslie dining chairs brightens up the dining area. Instead, the master bedroom features the Reeves bed, with a matching pair of Reeves Small armchairs, the Kitaj coffee table and the Prince Cord Indoor armchair. A large Florida seating system is the centrepiece of the open-air spaces.
